Our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants at Lyftathon Kigali 2026.

1. Purpose

Lyftathon Kigali 2026 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or technical experience level.

This Code of Conduct applies to all hackathon spaces, including the venue, online communication channels, and social events associated with Lyftathon Kigali 2026.

2. Expected Behavior

All participants, sponsors, mentors, judges, and organizers are expected to:

  • Be respectful and considerate in all interactions
  • Collaborate openly and constructively with others
  • Provide constructive feedback and accept it gracefully
  • Respect the personal boundaries and privacy of others
  • Use inclusive language and avoid discriminatory jokes or comments
  • Report any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct

3. Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable at Lyftathon Kigali 2026:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
  • Offensive verbal or written comments related to personal characteristics
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Disruption of talks, presentations, or other event activities
  • Sustained disruption of collaborative work or team activities
  • Plagiarism or misrepresentation of work as original
  • Unauthorized use of another participant's code, ideas, or materials

4. Fair Play

To ensure a fair competition, participants must:

  • Build their projects during the hackathon timeframe
  • Not use pre-built solutions or projects started before the event
  • Properly attribute any open-source libraries, APIs, or third-party resources used
  • Present their own work honestly during judging

5. Consequences

Participants who violate this Code of Conduct may face consequences including:

  • A verbal or written warning
  • Expulsion from the event without a refund or prize eligibility
  • Being banned from future CareerLyft Technologies Ltd events
  • Referral to local law enforcement if appropriate

The organizers reserve the right to determine the appropriate response to any violation, and decisions made by the organizing team are final.

6. Reporting

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to an event organizer or by emailing events@careerlyft.tech. All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.

You can identify event organizers by their staff badges. We encourage you to reach out even if you are unsure whether a situation constitutes a violation.
